Open Volunteer Roles

Volunteering with a trauma-recovery initiative requires dedication to safety and confidentiality. We have structured roles depending on your experience and clinical background:

Peer Group Assistant

Support our registered psychotherapists during online peer facilitation groups. Requires a background in social care, mental health counseling, or peer group training.

RequirementDBS Check + 10hr Specialist Training

Administrative Aid

Help coordinate session logs, verify donations, manage newsletter distributions, and handle logistics for public outreach campaigns.

RequirementGDPR training module completion

Tech & Security Volunteer

Maintain our website, support encrypted portal integrations, and advise on secure database setups for maximum patient anonymity.

RequirementProfessional IT/Security experience

Social Media Outreach Support

Draft content, run educational social campaigns, and distribute info packets to clinics, spiritual centers, and survivor organizations.

RequirementAlignment with ethical communication rules

Safeguarding & Training

To protect the safety of our community, all volunteers working near clinical materials or interacting with survivors must undergo comprehensive identity checks, references, and a specialized training workshop regarding boundaries and cultic trauma dynamics.

Forum Monitoring

Help maintain the safety and integrity of our Community Forum by monitoring threads for distress signals, moderating tone, and flagging posts that may require clinical attention. This role requires empathy, discretion, and adherence to our community safeguarding guidelines.

Art & Creative Contributions

Art, poetry, illustration, and creative writing have long been healing tools. We welcome contributions from survivors and supporters who wish to offer creative work for our resource library, community spaces, or fundraising materials. All contributions are shared with your permission and attributed as you prefer.

Event Assistance

Support the coordination of community awareness events, fundraising gatherings, and online webinars. This includes logistics, promotion, technical setup for virtual events, and participant communication. A meaningful way to contribute without clinical involvement.

Excellent CPD & Work Experience for the Mental Health Field

Heal Gurukuli is led by Caitanya Lila, a UKCP-Registered Psychotherapist and the initiative’s clinical founder. This means that volunteering here is not only meaningful — it is formally valuable for anyone building a career in counselling, psychotherapy, psychology, or social work.

Our environment provides direct exposure to trauma-informed clinical practice, safeguarding frameworks, multi-disciplinary team dynamics, and the ethical standards required by the UKCP and BACP. Volunteers working in supported roles can reference this placement directly on their CV and in applications to training programmes.

For students on placement programmes, we can provide formal written references from the clinical lead, as well as structured reflection opportunities to support your professional development portfolio. We particularly welcome trainee counsellors, psychology graduates, and MSc psychotherapy students.
